Inglewood District Health Service – Strategic Plan Kickoff

Ninety Mile Consulting is proud to be partnering with Inglewood District Health Service (IDHS) to develop an overarching strategic plan that reflects the specific and unique healthcare needs of Inglewood and its surrounding communities.

As a small but vital rural health service, IDHS not only supports the Inglewood population, but also provides care for neighbouring communities including Wedderburn, Bridgewater, Moliagul, and beyond. This strategic plan will be shaped by local voices and lived experience, ensuring the health service remains responsive, sustainable, and future-focused.

Why this plan matters:

  • Addressing local needs: Tailoring services to meet the distinct health challenges faced in rural communities.
  • Strengthening the service: Building IDHS’s capacity to be a leader in care delivery across the region’s smaller towns.
  • Ensuring sustainability: Planning for a resilient health service that can adapt to future changes and challenges.
  • Enhancing community wellbeing: Placing people at the centre of care and supporting healthier lives across the region.

Our strategic planning approach

NMC is applying a data-driven and engagement-led methodology to ensure the plan is both evidence-based and community-focused. This approach includes:

Review & Maturity Assessment

  • Conducting a Maturity Assessment across 12 key operational pillars and over 100 healthcare excellence points
  • Evaluating workforce, governance, technology, and service delivery models to assess IDHS’s current performance.
  • Analysing internal and external data to align the strategy with regional health trends and funding models.
  • Demographic modelling to predict future service demand and understand demand segments.

Co-Designing the Future Strategy

  • Facilitating workshops with IDHS staff, board members, and community stakeholders to shape a responsive and sustainable plan that is not just for community and the organisation, but also co-designed by them.
  • Running community engagement initiatives to ensure local voices are integrated into healthcare planning.

Delivering a Roadmap for Success

  • Defining clear strategic goals and actionable initiatives that will guide IDHS’s future.
  • Establishing key performance metrics to track progress and ensure the plan delivers tangible outcomes.

Key areas of focus

  • Community-focused planning: Engaging local community members, staff, and stakeholders so that the strategic plan truly reflects the needs, values, and priorities of the people IDHS serves.
  • Preparing for system changes: Positioning IDHS to navigate the introduction of new Local Health Service Networks and potential changes in activity-based funding, ensuring the service is well-prepared and aligned with statewide reforms.
  • Building stronger community connections: Exploring new opportunities for the community to engage with the health service beyond traditional care, such as wellness initiatives, group activities, and preventative health programs that strengthen both physical and social wellbeing.

The development of this plan will help IDHS remain a leader of care within the region. NMC is excited to support IDHS in delivering high-quality, community driven healthcare solutions.
