We are pleased to announce the successful completion of the Early Childhood Workforce Plan project for South Gippsland Shire Council. This collaborative effort has resulted in a comprehensive strategy to address the challenges and opportunities in the early childhood sector across the region.

Project Overview

Over the past several months, our team at Ninety Mile Consulting has worked closely with South Gippsland Shire Council to develop a robust Early Childhood Workforce Plan. This initiative aligns with the Council’s commitment to supporting high-quality early years services for families in the area. Our approach to early years planning ensures that the strategy addresses both current needs and future demands.

Key Achievements

1. Comprehensive Workforce Analysis: We conducted an in-depth analysis of the current early childhood workforce in South Gippsland, identifying strengths and areas for improvement.

2. Future-Focused Projections: The plan includes detailed projections for future workforce needs, taking into account population growth and changing demographics in the region.

3. Recruitment and Retention Strategies: We developed targeted strategies to attract and retain skilled early childhood professionals, addressing the unique challenges faced by rural and regional areas.

4. Professional Development Recommendations: The plan outlines a framework for ongoing professional development, ensuring the workforce remains skilled and up to date with best practices in early childhood education.

5. Implementation Roadmap: A clear timeline and action steps have been provided to guide the Council in implementing the workforce plan effectively. This roadmap is a key component of the overall early-years strategy.

6. Collaboration and Partnership Opportunities: The plan identified collaboration and partnership opportunities within the South Gippsland region, including RTOs, universities, neighbouring Councils, and early childhood providers. These partnerships will be crucial in implementing the plan and strengthening the early childhood sector in the region.

Impact on the Community

This Early Childhood Workforce Plan is set to have a significant positive impact on South Gippsland’s youngest residents and their families. By strengthening the early childhood workforce, the Council aims to enhance the quality and accessibility of services across the Shire. The plan supports the Council’s broader objectives of creating healthy and engaged communities, as outlined in their Council Plan 2022-2026. It also aligns with the Council’s commitment to sustainable growth and the provision of essential services for families.

Looking Ahead

NMC are confident that this Early Childhood Workforce Plan will serve as a valuable tool for South Gippsland Shire Council in their ongoing efforts to support and improve early years services. The implementation of this plan will contribute to making South Gippsland an even better place for young families to live and thrive. NMC Team is proud to have partnered with South Gippsland Shire Council on this important initiative. We look forward to seeing the positive outcomes that will result from the implementation of the Early Childhood Workforce Plan in the coming years.
