NMC is proud to be partnering with Murrindindi Shire Council and the Murrindindi Health Network (MHN) to design and operationalise a Tertiary Education Hub for the Murrindindi region.
Murrindindi has a growing regional economy with real and diversified demand for skilled workers across health and care, construction, agriculture, early childhood education and community services. The region is ready to build the tertiary education infrastructure that matches its ambition, and a formalised hub is the natural next step in a journey that is already well underway.
Like many dynamic regional communities, Murrindindi has the people, the industries and the ambition to be genuinely self-sustaining. Realising that potential depends on one critical condition: that the skilled workforce those industries require is trained, qualified and embedded locally. Without accessible tertiary pathways within the shire, that condition goes unmet. Essential service roles go unfilled, workers seeking to upskill are required to travel between 85 and 130 kilometres to reach the nearest providers, and the region’s own talent is drawn away rather than retained. Across disciplines spanning nursing, allied health, construction, early childhood education and community services, the case points to the same solution: a locally anchored tertiary education hub that builds the workforce pipeline Murrindindi needs to grow and serve its community on its own terms.
NMC will work closely with MHN, Council, and state and federal government stakeholders to design a hub model that is evidence-based, financially sustainable and built for the long term. Our approach draws on rigorous demographic and workforce analysis, benchmarking of comparable hubs across Australia, and structured stakeholder engagement to ensure every recommendation is grounded in both evidence and community.
The work will equip MHN and Council with everything they need to move from vision to implementation:
- Hub Design Framework that defines the optimal model for Murrindindi
- A long-term Operating and Financial Sustainability Plan that ensures the hub remain viable well beyond its establishment
- A Growth and Expansion Roadmap that sets the trajectory for what the hub can become
- A comprehensive Business Case built to the standard that State and Commonwealth governments require to commit and invest
